It has been a while since I have really focused on blogging. A lot of excuses really but mostly because I have been in a mode of reflection…consumed with mommiehood, homework, soccer games and a lot of graphic design clients/work..not to mention a whole lot of pillow sales and networking for new shops that will carry our line!
This image above is our newest line of pillows (from yardage) DANDELION in CHARCOAL that will be under ERIN AT HOME. A new line that focuses on a stream line clean construction, with a hidden zipper. SOON to be made into bedding/duvets that I have been dreaming up for a year now. SPRING 2013 is about new beginnings….Image below is BUBBLES in Mango hand screened in our studio on Natural Bark Cloth. I am coming out with a third print soon that will compliment these two…more after the jump! e
Hello everyone! I have the 2013 Erin Flett Calendar ready for your holiday gift giving! I am so so over joyed to have a lot of you contact me asking me if I was going to have a new one out this year! Thank you so much for the kick in the pants getting these out! SO here you go—enjoy! e
Woke up with a bit of a head ache–too much fun at a friend’s epic halloween party that I seriously won’t soon forget. So much fun my face still aches from all the laughing and smiling! Good thing I have been running again…I think I danced for 2 hours straight! Just feels good to really be connecting with local peeps since Breshia and Ary have been so involved with school stuff and a ton of soccer. Maslen and I have met so many new cool people–a lot of like minded parents that enjoy watching their kids grow into sports as much as we do. A whole new world as parents. Just love being a mother and watching these little critters grow into little people taking on the world one goal at a time.
Kiddos are at my moms for the day, which I am super thankful for. I am focusing on refreshing things visually around here to reflect new visions, designs and products that will soon be out in the market place next month. (more…)
Morning. It’s pouring rain here in Gorham, Maine and a lovely down day for us here. We are regrouping after madly cleaning and organizing yesterday. I am in a place where I am getting old jobs out the door–keeping things in motion with pillow sales and sorting out who is stitching what and how we are growing and really need extra help. I also have had some great press here locally that has really been such a great surprise.
Please check out: Portland Press Harold for the first real in depth story ever published about my work–everything from where my designs are inspired from and my story about the unusual bark cloth. Thank you Aimsel Ponti and Ray Routhier! Photo Credits go to Winky Lewis: Images on the second spread.
We are focusing on getting our new website out there into the world. Since we are always getting client work out the door or pillows shipped out–it has been a huge challenge to focus on getting the site up. Now that it is up I am redirecting my energy on wholesale accounts and really being a better manager of this…I have had no time to follow up with shops and now really want to establish the good ones and really nurture them. Since the O Profile, we have had many shops order pillows and bags and it’s been so great seeing this much product get out into the world. So if you are a shop–please connect often and I will do the same. All I want really is to ensure that you are happy and things are moving for you.
I am also refining what it is that I want the line to turn into and have recently ordered some of my own designed yardage from Alfresco. (USA Indoor/Outdoor manufacturer). They are simply amazing to work with and I am very excited to take this fabric and create some of my own signature items as well as new duvets and shower curtains. It’s super soft yet has all the charecteristics of outdoor fabric–so hello durability and fade resistent amazingness–perfect for my little critters that I have to chase around to keep my house from looking like one giant mud explosion! I will post as soon as I do up a few things. I can’t tell you how exciting it is to see your designs in repeat…

Have a happy Sunday everyone! Best e
I have found myself running again. I used to go on runs everyday all through College and slowly as I got my self into the work world I turned to yoga. Now feeling a lot more stressed with daily life, these runs have been so so good for me. These little runs erase my day to day TO DO list and frees my mind so I let go and dream about what’s to come for Erin Flett.
I imagine a sail boat FULL of pillows of all shapes, colors and sizes shooting out of canyons into the arms of thousands of people on land—cheering as they fall into peoples hands (I know it’s random but such a fun thought) as Mas and I + the girls sail off into the sunset—I dream of simple A LINE dresses inspired by vintage slips that are light and airy, I visualize scarves that are made out of gauze wool woven here in Maine and scarves that are silk that I wrap a million times around my neck or head…AND bags that are all shapes and sizes..with wooden and leather handles…so many things..but what is so spectacular about these runs is that my empty cup is filled up again and I get back to work and simply write down these little visions…to somehow connect them into the reality of making…and doing. My mind never rests, but the time away from mommiehood and computer client stuff…let’s me find my way back to what makes me truly happy…designing.
Summer is such a free time here in Maine…early morning coffee out in my gardens, kiddos waking up with camps to go to, long beach days, sand castles, hermit crabs and sunsets over the harbor eating dinner at our favorite waters edge haunts in Portland….and most of all warm humid nights with friends under twinkle lights reministing about old times and new business ventures…all of it…THIS IS SUMMER to me here in Maine land.
Attached is a shot from this am. I found my surplus military parachute material SAMPLES on my door step this am from Sat delivery. (we spent the day at the beach yesterday) —hopefully these will turn into scarves depending if our solvent free water based inks actually stays on this fabric! Samples to follow–but isn’t this such a devine thought. I love all my hundreds of vintage scarves..but this could be the first step of producing my own. Mas and I plan on printing on them today. So excited. Happy thoughts.
Happy July to all of you…e
Hello and welcome to our new RETAIL site + new look and feel of my blog! Finally I have all the pillow + frames designs that we have available so all of you can actually see all of what we have been designing, printing and making around here! So thankful for Nathan Hankle who has put up with my insanity for months now tweaking and asking annoying questions like, “why is it doing that?” and “I want it to look like this–is this possible.” I love his response, sure, anything is possible.” Good I would respond…and we would go down that road only to circle back to what is practical and simple. So in theory this web design process is similar to my other life/design processes which is basically that I include everything including the kitchen sink, then modify, tweak, delete and eventually come down to the ultimate essentials. AND yes what you see here is a continued work in progress…never to really be done..BUT I love the it turned out so far.
My portfolio is pretty empty still so I will try and load more of my fav projects weekly. So many great projects that I have been fortunate to be apart of— 8 years of cool projects, so yes, a huge under taking to actually figure out what I still love enough to put up ha ha and yes, what I feel is fun to look at…but so happy to have a way to show my work to new clients…it’s been a long time coming. I hope you enjoy taking a peek as much as I loved doing the work.
I can’t tell you how crazy life has been since O came out with the profile on my textiles–and how seriously excited Maslen and I are about new opportunities with ALFRESCO FUNCTIONAL FABRICS that came out with the new ERIN FLETT line of outdoor / indoor fabrics a few weeks ago. WE had the best time in High Point, North Carolina. Everyone was so generous and wonderful and Maslen and I were so excited to be alone for a few days and enjoy the feedback of the new line. And getting to borrow the company convertible mercedes wasn’t too bad either. We both had a crash course in textile manufacturing / weaving. —I personally love the indestructible aspect of the outdoor/indoor fabric line and how you can hose it down and spray with bleach to clean. AND it has a AERO finish that has a lux soft hand– so bedding and interior companies sampled it at the High Point Show as well. I want to make some pillows and redo some vintage pieces I have stashed here so hopefully I will show you that in the near future. Images are attached above of each design in ONLY ONE colorway. BUT you can contact Todd at Alfresco: firstname.lastname@example.org and ask for samples. It is just amazing to go from silk screening to a woven design. It is an ALL AMERICAN MADE PRODUCT WOVEN IN NORTH CAROLINA. (just another reason to buy it!). e
We were also featured in BEST OF MAINE this month with our ORCHARD PILLOW being in one of the spreads–check out press page for pics! So many thanks to DOWN EAST MAGAZINE for including us. The design of the piece was really well done!
Thanks for reading this little update–Flett’s are going to Panther Pond to enjoy some much needed sun and fun. Happy Weekend everyone. e
